Preparing Your Vehicle for Shipping
Although a lot simpler than packing and transporting a whole house’s contents to a new location, shipping your vehicle still requires some preparation and care. By being cautious and taking just a few steps, you will be able to secure your car a safe journey and will make sure to receive it in optimum conditions once it reaches its final destination.
A few days before shipping your car, it is a good idea to take it to the garage for a basic maintenance check up. If you feel there is no need for it, check the vehicle’s fluids, tire pressure, battery charge, radiator state and the like on your own. Be completely sure everything is in order, for however static the vehicle will be during the trip, it still needs to be in excellent shape. If the car is leaking fluids or has a start-up problem, do notify the transport company so that they will know how to deal with it and protect your car and other people’s.
A day or two before you ship it, take your vehicle for a beauty care treatment. Wash its interiors and the outside proficiently and check its general appearance and state. Look for any marks, spots, indentations, and the like; make sure to know what the exact condition of your automobile is in order to know how you are shipping it and to be able to recognize any chances upon arrival to its final destination. If it is necessary, make a list of its features and the shape in which they appear to be.
At the moment of the shipping, make sure nothing is sticking out from the vehicle; retract the antennae, and fold in the mirrors. You will also be better off removing any customized accessories you have added to the car like ground effects or spoilers. In a similar manner, remove any inside objects that may fly about during the transport of your automobile like garbage bins or children’s busters. Take out of the car as well any personal effects that may be sitting or stored in its interior to avoid any damage or loss.
Now that you vehicle is ready to be shipped, check once more all the insurance policies related to the transport and the contract you have closed with the
transport company. Make sure everything is clear and in accordance to those two very important pieces of paper.
